Peranatoriana is a fusion of delicate Victorian typologies with a rich tropical palette and fanciful detail taken from the Malaysian Singaporean Peranakan tradition.
We give our own spin to the traditional beaded Nyonya slippers with quartz and turquoise tilapia and dark velvets complemented by airy organza ribbons. Victorian mid-calf boots pop in traditional Peranakan tea-set colours, with mesh panels embroidered with classic roses taken from facades of Malaysian merchants' mansions. The classic Victorian fur carriage boot is given an update with candy contrasts and Carlita borrows from Malaccan trellis-work and gift wrapping with complicated loops and silver leather hand-profiled in gold. Lastly comes our homage to the more austere, minimalist and colonial-influenced men's style with simple, all-black shapes given a signature kick by way of a curving heel or tasseled ankle-tie. This collection brings the life, colour and detail of our fantasy fusion world to everyday heights without compromising on fancy. We take to heart the Liudmila maxim that every day should feel like Christmas morning.
